Dear Valued Clients and Friends,
In the wake of the news surrounding the spread of COVID-19, we feel it is important to update you on Roy Miller & Associates’ business continuity plan, and response to what is now considered a pandemic. We are continually monitoring CDC updates and are following the protocols they have recommended. Our current plan is to maintain our usual tax season schedule, but some immediate changes are necessary.
At this point, we have been advised to stop all in-person meetings until further notice. It has become personal to me since I have several friends who have contracted the virus. An uncle of someone very close to me has died at age 52. His wife is in ICU but expected to recover. I believe adhering to the suggested protocol is crucial to protect my staff, and you, my clients and friends. I have asked my staff to work at home as much as possible so immediate access may be limited.
In almost all cases with all the electronic methods of communication in person meetings are not necessary and not a healthy practice in these conditions. We will continue to be available by phone and email to answer any questions and gather information to prepare returns.
To the extent possible, we would like you to deliver your documents to us electronically or by mail. Call or email our office and we can provide you a secure link through our website to attach your documents. We have a drop mail slot at the bottom of the left door if you prefer to drop by.
Fortunately, we have not been directly impacted by the Coronavirus – that is to say, we have no known cases within our staff. We are indirectly affected, however with the current city restrictions in place, some of our team are forced to work reduced schedules.
Given these altered schedules, it may take us longer than usual to complete your tax returns.
The Treasury Department has recently extended the due date for 2019 federal income tax returns and payments to July 15, 2020.
Also, the due date of first quarter estimated tax payments for 2020 has been extended to July 15th, 2020. But we want to get all done that we possibly can (particularly if you are due a refund) so get your documents to us via old time postal service, e-mail, our portal, or the drop slot.
Thank you for being a valued friend and client and for your continued trust with all your tax and accounting needs as we manage through this time together. We will continue to monitor the situation, while taking a calm yet diligent approach, and will update you with any further changes. Call us if you feel we need to plot further strategy to get the work DONE and keep us ALL SAFE.
